Hey all!
Well, I have taken on the challenge of reading the Bible from cover to cover in one year. While I will readily admit that I have taken on this challenge before and failed miserably thanks to many other distractions that the world has so lovingly placed in my path...this time I will make it through! I just started last Tuesday and I have read through Genesis 37. Okay, now some of you may be thinking "Hollyann, how much of the Word are you retaining?" This is a great and valid question.
I will tell you that I am retaining most of what I read and am having great discussions and posing more questions and learning more than I have ever before.
I have read the Bible from the very beginning before and (I'll be honest again) grew very bored, very quickly. Horrible, yes I believe so! So what is new this time? I am reading through the Bible this time with help from an audio source called 'Words of Promise.' It is an audio version of the Bible which comes in different translations from the KJV, NKJV, and the NIV (I believe those are the main versions but I am not sure if others are offered or not). Anyways, the audio uses different actors to portray all of the figures and people in the Bible and also a narrator, background music to suit the theme and also audio sounds which make it seem like, while you are reading the Bible, you are right there experiencing the whole thing. It is a really a great tool for those of us who have tried to read the Bible from begining to end (picture me waving my hand mightily back and forth with a cheesy grin on my face) and have faltered and quit along the way.
The actors portrayals of the figures of Bible are very poignant and touching. They are not cheesy in the least...well, mostly. :) It is very well done and must say that I have enjoyed my daily Bible readings more and more as I sit down with my Bible and plug my earbuds in from my little Ipod.
In other news I leave for school on Sunday after church and my last day of work at RuffaloCODY is tomorrow. I am shocked to say the summer has gone by fast. I believe this is a good thing. While the peace of God is continually changing my outlook on life, I continue to pray for the next year ahead and what the future for me holds. I go into this year facing the daunting task of coming up with a Senior Thesis and then making and conducting an experiment, running statistics, and making a report...YAY!!! :)
Ok, so in some twisted way...I am a little excited. Why? Because this means that I am finally a senior in college. This means that I am 22 years old. This means that I am an adult. This all means that life is going to be baring down on me very, very, soon. I believe I am ready to face it. For the first time I have no clue what is waiting for me after graduation. All I know is that I am God's servant and He will do with me what He pleases. He knows what is in store how everything in my life will turn out.
I have so much to be prayful and thankful for, it is almost overwhelming. :)
God's peace be with you all.
Love,
Hollyann
