Words of Encouragement

Out on my own...

Well, it is official. I have graduated college with a B.A. in psychology and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to attend Sioux Falls Seminary. I will start classes in the fall and work towards a Master of Divinity with an emphasis of Pastoral Care/Hospital Chaplaincy. Or it could change to Marriage and Family and Therapy... God is in control, this I have learned.

I have surmounted challenges already by navigating the roadways of Sioux Falls--sans GPS. Okay, so I got lost-- a lot. But God is faithful and He is continuing to be faithful as I learn patience and a little perserverance. Someone told me recently that they are very excited for me and this new phase of my life. They said that they felt that as I was out on my own that I would truly figure out who I am and who I want to be. That is a scary thought...who am I? I can't really say that I know but I hope to make that discovery. :)

So far in my adventure I have settled into my apartment and am happy to say that I am adjusting with little difficulty. I think the neighbors are getting used to me as well. At first I don't think they knew what to think as a random girl was walking in and out of the basement constantly. I'm not in my apartment a lot however due to the fact of always being busy. I like being busy though because I have found that I need to be an active person or else I get bored, crabby, and depressed. This is something new that I have discovered about myself which I find interesting. Living alone you become aware of many different traits about yourself. Just to name a few of the things that I have learned about myself...

1) I hate doing dishes (they do get done but I hate them!)
2) I am very indecisive (I can stand in front of the refrigerator for 10 min trying to decide what to eat, get frsustrated with indecision, and give up.)
3) I really hate T.V. (There is nothing worth watching on the television anymore and so I find myself thinking of other ways to entertain myself...this usually involves reorganzing my kitchen or going for a jog...)
4) I can jog 1.5 to 2 miles without stopping! (I am not very fast but I can do it!)
5) I actually feel like I have accomplished something after jogging and kind of like it!
6) I like rhubarb! :)

These are just a few things in which I find my daily life growing more and more exciting.
